  • Astronomical Society of Las Cruces - The Astronomical Society of Las Cruces New Mexico (ASLC) was formed in 1951 and has grown to approximately 80 members. Founders of the Society include Jed Durrenberger; Walter Haas, founder of the Association of Lunar and Planetary Observers (ALPO) and long time Editor of the ALPO newsletter The Strolling Astronomer; and Dr. Clyde Tombaugh, discoverer of the planet Pluto. Jed Durrenberger and Walter Haas are still Directors Emeritus of ASLC.
