How to make the subject in your photos JUMP out of the picture!

One of the biggest elements that sets apart a professional photograph from one taken by an amateur, is the composition and placement of everything in the picture. What does this mean? Basically the pro knows what to put where, and how to make it look appealing. This article will give you a good idea of the difference between a distracting background, and a pleasing one.

For this first photograph, I found a budding blob of flowers on an apple tree in my front yard that looked pretty cool. I snapped this image with a point-and-shoot Canon Digital camera, by simply setting it on auto mode, walking up to the flowers, and taking the picture. The first thing you will notice is the tree trunk on the right, the chain-link fence on the left, and the road way in the back. Not the prettiest of photos.

For the second image, care was taken to eliminate the crappy background and focus only on the blob of flowers. I raised the camera higher in the air for this picture to eliminate the road in the background. The tree trunk was also placed behind the flowers.
