Trail Description:
The Bear Pen Gap Trail is a wonderful quarter mile leg stretcher that stays relatively flat until it dead-ends at the Mountains to Sea Trail in the Nantahala National Forest. This is a very pretty trail that gives good views of the surrounding mountains in the winter and crosses over a few small trickling mountain streams that probably are loaded with salamanders.
