Hiking Trails: Craggy Pinnacle Trail
View from the summit of Craggy Pinnacle

Trail Description:

The Craggy Pinnacle Trail is a somewhat short, moderate uphill hike to the Craggy Pinnacle Summit. The trail is nicely maintained, clean, and beautiful. The rewards at the top offer stretching views toward Tennessee. One of my favorite things about the Craggy Pinnacle Trail is the number of grassy spots you can just sit down, eat some lunch, and enjoy the views in solitude. Weekdays, like any other Blue Ridge Parkway stop, offer the greatest chance of no people :) During the summer, I like to head by the Arby's toward Fairview then drive up here and eat a nice quiet Big Montana or whatever :)

Beautiful scenery you can sit down in the grass and relax to. Kind of scarred lately with the new Interstate 26 connector opening, quite an eyesoar now...

Directions to Trail head:

From Asheville: Blue Ridge Parkway to mile marker 364.2. Parking area on left.

Special Notes:

  • The weather at Craggy Gardens (even more so than other places in the mountains) can change dramatically, and change FAST. I have been caught in blistering hail storms on my motorcycle that just came out of nowhere. I've been snowed on in June, and spent quite a few times warming up and drying out by the wood burning stove in the Craggy Gardens Wayside Meuseum!
